Magnum, Shepherds Bush Empire 30.4.11

Magnums latest album The Visitation was in my view disappointing, especially when compared to the brillance of the two previous to it, The Moon King & Princess Alice. Therefore wisely they only chose to play four tracks from it which included the stand out track from it, Freedom Day. A good mix of old & new though perhaps they could start switching some of the older stuff like replacing All England Eyes with something like Just Like An Arrow or a track from Wings Of Heaven, which was totally ignored in the set. They aren't getting any younger and whilst I thought Bob Catley's voice was struggling to begin with, he recovered with great vocals on the classic Les Morts Dansant and show ender On A Storytellers Night. Long may they continue.

Back To Earth / When We Were Younger / Wild Angels / Brand New Morning / How Far Jerusalem / Spin Like A Wheel / The Moonking / Freedom Day / Les Morts Dansants / Black Skies / All My Bridges / All England’s Eyes / Vigilante //// Kingdom Of Madness / On A Storyteller’s Night
