Jimmy Barnes / The Union Shepherds Bush 2.7.11

Paul Simon, Itunes Festival, Roundhouse 1.7.11

Got less than 24 hours notice for this one as it was competition winners only and I got my e-mail when I got to work in the morning. AGot to Camden just after seven and had to queue for forty minutes to get in. It was however ideal timing as just after getting a £4 pint of Becks and positioning myself Mr Simon came on dead on 8 o'clock. A set of 2hours 15, he certainly entertained though there were not many Simon & Garfunkel songs. He did do a great acoustic version of Sound Of Silence to open up the encore and a cover of Here Comes The Sun. An added bonus for me was that Rose Elinor Dougall was stood two yards to my left, a downside was that she was with her very young looking boyfriend.

Ozzy Osbourne Hammersmith 21.6.11

Not seen Ozzy before and at my favourite venue I decided to take a trip. A good hour and a half with a classic set list including War Pigs, Iron Man, Crazy Train etc. Positioned near the front on the left just out of reach by Ozzys foam cannon. A few scantily covered female goths near me to was always a bonus. He obviously ended with Paranoid!

Sophie Ellis-Bextor Album Launch 14.6 XOYO

A new venue for me this one. An underground club near Old Street with Amstel on draught. A better gig than when I saw her in Islington a few months earlier. You have to admire her abilty to bounce around in six inch heels. Her mum was on radio five earlier in the day moaning about BBC Shepherds Bush closing and Blue Peter moving to Salford. If I was moving to Salford then I'd be blue.
