Melissa Etheridge - Shepherds Bush Empire 29.6.10

Hadn't seen Melissa Etheridge for about a decade and although the £40 ticket seemed a bit pricey, the scareness of her UK tours swung it for me. A one off UK date saw a nationwide audience, with a few scottish people making the journey south. It was a sell out crowd though I got annoyed when maurading my way down to the bar that there was a wall of couples with plenty of room in front of them but not moving forward theirselves or allowing people to pass. Still managed to get my normal place on the left just ahead of the bar. Coming on at eight o'clock Melissa played for about two and three quarter hours. Still she missed out a couple of my favs and singles such as No Souvenirs and All American Girl which was a shame. However, we got a slice of her new album Fearless Love and classic track such as Chrome Plated Heart and Let Me Go. The set culminated in a ten minute plus version of Bring Me Some Water seguing to an even longer Like The Way I Do. Classic stuff. The encore just featured one song, a ballad that closes her new album but still a worthwhile eveniong to get reaquainted with my favourite 12-string guitarist (besides myself).

Set - Fearless Love / Miss California / Similar Features / Chrome Plated Heart / If I Wanted To / Company / I Want To Come Over / The Wanting of You / Let Me Go / Heaven on Earth / To Be Loved / Brave & Crazy / Indiana / Drag Me Away / Nervous / I'm The Only One / Bring Me Some Water / Like The Way I Do ///// Gently We Row
